Club Statement
Dear Members,
I am writing to all members of the North Ballarat Football and Netball Club to reinforce our expectations regarding behaviour at matches, particularly in our junior program.
As many of you may be aware, an incident occurred during our recent Under 12 match involving a spectator entering the playing area and directing comments toward an opposition player. The Club has addressed this matter directly with the individual involved and appropriate sanctions have been imposed.
While this was an isolated incident, it serves as an important reminder of the standards we must all uphold.
Our Club has a clear and unwavering commitment to:
- Providing a safe, supportive and respectful environment for all players
- Ensuring junior participants are protected and able to enjoy the game
- Upholding the values of respect, sportsmanship and fairness
Accordingly, all members, parents and spectators are reminded that:
- No spectator is permitted to enter the field of play at any time
- Under no circumstances should adults engage directly with opposition players, particularly junior players
- All interactions with players, officials and other spectators must be respectful and appropriate
- Concerns during matches should be directed through coaches or club officials, not acted upon directly
We understand that football can be emotional, particularly when our children are involved. However, it is critical that we model the behaviour we expect from our players.
The Club operates a zero tolerance approach to any conduct that places players at risk or brings the game into disrepute. Any future breaches will result in disciplinary action.
We ask all members to reflect on their role in creating a positive environment and to support our coaches, officials and volunteers in maintaining these standards.
Thank you for your continued support of the North Ballarat Football and Netball Club.
Kind regards,
Terry Hay
President
North Ballarat Football and Netball Club
